Lens Materials

HOYA's patented, award-winning Integrated Double Surface (iDs) Technology optimizes the surface geometry of progressive lenses by doing what no other progressive design does; separating the design into two components and applying these to both sides of the lens. The vertical components (magnification changes from distance to near) are placed on the front, convex side of the lens. The horizontal component (magnification and power changes from side to side) occupies the back, concave surface. Both surfaces are individually designed, analyzed and optimized for their individual contribution to the overall progressive performance, yet neither is a progressive design by itself. When the two sides are integrated in the final product, both components represent a fully customized design built upon prescription and frame parameters.
